If we recognize non-believers as a special group, then in terms of numbers it will take third place in the world, right behind Christians and Muslims, respectively.
A third of the world's population are non-believers
If we recognize non-believers as a special group, then in terms of numbers it will take third place in the world, right behind Christians and Muslims, respectively. On average, every sixth inhabitant of the planet is not a follower of any religious denomination. In percentage terms it is 16.3%.
It is curious that most non-believers are in China. There their number is almost double the entire population of the United States, that is, almost 700 million people. In percentage terms, the palm belongs to Estonia, where the number of non-believers reaches a record 75.7%.
Among Asian countries, Vietnam has the lowest level of religiosity. Bangladesh closes the list, where the number of non-believers is within the statistical error of 0.1%. In Russia, slightly less than half are non-believers – 48%.
Religious majority by place of residence
Three quarters of all religious people belong to the religious majority in their countries. Thus, 97% of all Hindus live in just three countries: India, the Republic of Mauritius and Nepal.
The only country in which the majority belongs to Jews is, as you might guess, Israel. Only 9 countries in the world do not have a religious majority. These are Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Macau, Nigeria, South Korea, Taiwan, Togo and Vietnam.
Buddhists are the majority in Bhutan, Cambodia, Laos, Mongolia, Thailand and Sri Lanka. Half of all the world's Buddhists live in China. In second place is Thailand with 13.2%. But in Thailand, Buddhists make up 95% of the total population. In Mongolia, 53% are Buddhists.
The youngest are Muslims
The oldest religion on earth in terms of average age of followers is Judaism. The average Jewish person is 36 years old. Then, in order of rejuvenation, come Buddhists, non-believers, followers of local beliefs (including shamanism), Christians, Hindus and Muslims. The average Muslim is 23 years old. The average age of a Buddhist is 34 years.
Unbaptized Asia
Christianity is the dominant religion in 157 countries. Followers of this religion dominate in most regions of the world, such as Europe (560 million), Latin America (530 million), South Africa (517 million), North America (267 million).
The only place where Christians are not a majority is in Asia, where their number reaches 287 million.
The rich have less faith
Interestingly, 68% of those who are not followers of any particular religion still believe in God or a higher power. Some non-believers fall under the category of apatheists, that is, people who do not attach importance to the existence or non-existence of gods or the supernatural.
In general, the world has seen a decline in interest in religion. This is noticeable in the outflow of visitors to churches and the increase in the number of nominal followers of religions, who do not actualize their religiosity in any way in everyday life.
It is also interesting that the percentage of non-believers is higher in economically developed countries. The most striking exception to this pattern is the United States.
Scientists see a fairly clear dependence of the level of religiosity of the population on the level of well-being of society. Thus, for residents of the poorest countries, religion is more important. Some studies also show an inverse correlation between IQ level and religiosity.

According to modern research, before the advent of Christianity, our country was the most cultural country in the world. It was significantly ahead of the countries of the West and East in the development of crafts, and in general in the development of culture. Modern linguists have established that the most ancient language on Earth is the Russian language. All other languages originate from it. This was especially clearly demonstrated in their works by such scientists as Dragunkin and Chudinov. Books by Dragunkin and Chudinov can be downloaded for free from many sites (ware3u.net.ru, mirknig.com and others).
Alexander Dragunkin in his works clearly shows the primitiveness and artificiality of the modern “language of world communication” - the English language. He showed that this language was created artificially and obeys several strict rules. In terms of its richness and expressiveness, the English language is vastly inferior to the Russian language. Our language is a natural language. It contains the wisdom of our ancestors. The Russian language is the main asset of the Russian people. The presence of such a language allows Russian people to be so talented, to develop not only logical, but also imaginative thinking. The weakness of imaginative (right-hemisphere) thinking is the main scourge of peoples who use artificial languages.
One of the main questions is how it could happen that such a primitive religion as Christianity was able, albeit temporarily, to defeat the highly developed culture of our ancestors. Nikolai Levashov explains this fact in detail in his works. Levashov’s books can also be downloaded for free from the website levashov.org. The temporary victory of the dark forces is associated with cosmic cycles. About a thousand years ago, the so-called night of Svarog began on our Earth. For about a thousand years, our solar system fell into a cosmic zone in which dark matter of type G predominates. An excess of matter of this type contributes to the excessive development of the lower subtle bodies of man, inhibiting his spiritual growth. Often a person generally begins to move not up, but down the evolutionary ladder. This is precisely why over the last thousand years the dark forces on Earth have achieved great success. The moral and cultural level of people has dropped greatly. Great strides have been made in technologies for manipulating the consciousness of the population. Using new technologies, current leaders can force people to “voluntarily” vote for the desired candidates, impose the consumption of certain things, and a philosophy of life in general.
However, around 1996, the Earth left the zone of predominance of type G matter. Currently, the Earth is increasingly entering the zone of predominance of dark matter of type E. The excess of this matter contributes to the development of the higher subtle bodies of man, the development of his spiritual powers and morality. The revival of the true spirituality of the people began.
Feeling the approach of a new era, the leaders of the dark forces became significantly more active. Huge efforts are being made to fool the people. The main goal of the dark forces is to slow down the spiritual development of the people as much as possible, to turn people into stupid slaves, executors of someone else’s will. Religion is the most important weapon for intoxicating the people. Another similar weapon is the so-called “mass culture”.
Despite their external dissimilarity, religion and mass culture perform the same function. Through popular culture, stereotypes of everyday behavior are imposed on people. People are programmed to buy exactly these things, watch exactly these films, read exactly these books (or better yet, not read any books at all). Through religion, stereotypes of spiritual behavior are imposed on people. In Islamic culture, religion simultaneously plays the role of mass culture. The Sharia describes in detail the desired behavior of Muslims (believers). In Christian countries, religious and popular culture differ significantly from each other (at least externally).
What methods do church leaders use to slow down or stop the spiritual development of the population? The church's methods have been carefully developed and tested over many hundreds of years. Let's consider only the main ones.
About 600 years ago, the so-called “saints” Cyril and Methodius created Church Slavonic writing. The current leaders of the Russian Orthodox Church brazenly call this writing Old Church Slavonic. This is a completely false statement. The great and powerful Russian language existed long before the arrival of Cyril and Methodius. They only slightly transformed the normal Russian language and created a special church language based on it. Now the Russian Orthodox Church is celebrating the creation of this language on a grand scale. The holiday is called "the day of Slavic writing." This name is completely false.
Why did Christians need to create a new language, incomprehensible to the population, in a country in which a beautiful expressive language already existed? This was not done by accident. It is also far from accidental that services in the Russian Orthodox Church are still conducted in this ugly language, despite the obvious advantages of the normal Russian language. To successfully fool the people, it is absolutely necessary that the service be conducted in a partially understandable language. The situation is similar in the West. There the service was conducted in Latin. If you conduct a service in a completely incomprehensible language, the people will not understand anything and will leave the church. If the service is conducted in ordinary Russian, then the people will understand everything that is said and will also leave the church. The creation of such a semi-Russian language was a brilliant move by the enemies of our people. Thanks to this move, Christianizers achieved great success.
Standing in church during a service, a person understands individual words and parts of phrases. He falls into a half-asleep state. In this state, a person is highly susceptible to hypnotic influence. The influence is enhanced by monotonous singing, long standing, and waving a censer. The censer here plays the same role as the pendulum in the hands of the hypnotist. From a long vigil, the body’s defenses melt and its energy shell breaks through. As a result, a person is easily subject to coding by dark forces.
It is interesting to note the clear correspondence: during the era of the eradication of illiteracy and the accelerated economic development of our country, churches became empty; and in times of collapse of the economy and educational system, churches grow fat and prosper.
Another, no less terrible religion is Islam. In our country it is gaining strength very quickly. At its core, Islam is similar to Christianity. Both of these religions are varieties of Judaism, adapted for a specific, non-Jewish population group.
For more spiritually developed peoples, Christianity with its relatively complex ideology was suitable. Islam was more suitable for more primitive peoples. Islam clearly defines the rules of conduct. People who have converted to Islam have to think much less with their own heads. Everything basic is already spelled out in Sharia. You just need to strictly follow his instructions. At first, Islam may seem like a completely peaceful religion. People who converted to Islam do not drink alcohol and raise many children. However, the end product of Islam is people who are ready to do anything “in the name of Allah.” These are zombies who explode bombs in crowded areas of civilians, moral monsters who mock people, calmly cut off heads, commit violence and robbery.
Other religions have no less detrimental effects on people. For example, the so-called Hare Krishnas (members of the Society for Krishna Consciousness sect) are engaged in the distribution of drugs under the guise of religion. Essentially, it's just another roof for drug dealers.
Now it is impossible to even list all the sects existing in our country. Some of them are grossly extremist, some are a cover for foreign intelligence officers.
In general, the harm of religion lies in the fact that it fosters a passive (slave) attitude towards the world. Religion seeks to kill the creative principle in a person, to prevent him from developing to the level of a creator. It is only permissible to be a slave (of God or someone else).
In general, over the past 25 years, especially after the collapse of the Soviet Union, religion has become very widespread. The healthy forces of our society need to unite to fight this obscurantism.
